I also have a strong want for one of these.

As do I.

Not liking the colour combo, but I like the car.

Nothing unusual about wanting a Baja. It's actually the perfect truck for what most people use their trucks for. It's comfortable to commute in. Can carry your family when you need to take them places. And it can carry some twigs and mulch when you do yard work.
Most people who have those 4-door trucks use them like a car. This is a better idea.
Now, if someone buys a truck because they routinely haul more than the ~500 pounds you can with a Baja that's perfectly fine. Have a boat/racecar you need to tow? Get a truck that will do that. I'm not against trucks, when they are being used for their capabilities. Most people though, truck=car and they could manage very well with something like this.
I want one as well. The wife thinks it's ugly, so I can't have one. :(

Just like the Ridgeline, I suppose.

How's about black?

What car and driver called "powerfully weird" when new. I don't want one, its a less usefull outback 2.5 turbo. Can't sleep in it...don't want it.

This I like, and I'm not usually a fan of trucks.

I want one of these so bad to go with my Outback. Too bad their resale value is so insanely high.

Buy one that has been riced and ruined, and have it as a project. Those are usually a lot cheaper.

But OEM parts are expensive...

To each his own.

I like your way of thinking. I think once I have my Outback modded to my liking (leather, new wheels, tow hitch, bike rack, cargo basket), then I'll begin saving for a second car.

Proceed with project as you can afford it.

Or if you want a completely different experience, the BRAT is still affordable if you can find one.
We got a running one for $275 a few years ago. Though that was from my Dad's friend.

I'd love a brat, but I have my doubts that I could fit my 6'10" self into one.

It is surprisingly roomy, though I'm only 6'. There is room behind the seat though, so it could possibly be remounted.

Did they make these with the Impreza WRX Turbo drivetrain? If so, yes please?

I couldn't find any brats, but I found one cheapish Baja. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/4885932611…

I would look for a turbo one. Those EJ's were known for their head gaskets exploding.

I'll have to wait at least 5 more years for a turbo to be affordable.

Did they make any in the US with a manual?
![]() 02/22/2015 at 16:16 |

yep. canada got some manuals, so i'm assuming the US did

A turbo that needs headgaskets, but still: http://www.carsforsale.com/Vehicle/Detail…

Not bad. Too bad it's in Michigan.

I really want to swap an STI engine into one of these and just make an amazing sleeper.
